I designed and built these headphones for the film Prospect. The design began as sketches and architectural references from the USSR, and progressed to a fully realized SolidWorks model which was then 3D printed in various pieces. From there I built 2 identical pairs and included a bluetooth speaker inside these so the action could be coordinated with the soundtrack. A replaceable “broken” piece was also included for a key scene with the main character.
The headphones were built out of 3D printed metal components (brass side plates) 3D printed cups (teal) and found objects for the rest of the construction.
Using the internal structure from a pair of ear muffs allowed the headphones to have the same structure and rugged function as real headphones. This included the ability to collapse down for storage.
Final Photoshop render made to get approval from the directors, Christopher Caldwell and Zeek Earl, as well as the Lead Production Designer Matt Acosta.
For this hero prop, Cee’s compass, the audience needed to know its function, but not immediately read as a plain old compass. I added in-universe numerals to the orange and grey rings, both of which spin independently, and a glow-in-the-dark face devoid of any normal markings. The dials on the sides were scavenged from old radios, further adding to the complexity of the device.
A top down shot of the finished and weathered compass.
In order to give the directors options, the back side of the compass was bolted in place. This allowed them to swap out different colors of glow-in-the-dark compass faces, depending upon the location’s coloring.
Final SolidWorks, Keyshot and Photoshop render made to get approval from the directors, Christopher Caldwell and Zeek Earl, as well as the Lead Production Designer Matt Acosta.
This hero prop served as both a standard prop and as a story-telling device. The suspense of the story hinges on a very important countdown for the main characters, see the next image for details.
The countdown function was a key feature of the watch, but the directors didn’t want a simple 10, 9, 8…type of countdown, as that didn’t fit the world they’d built. To solve for this, I designed a graphical countdown that the audience could understand, while using in-world design language.
Another function the directors wanted was for the watch to be modular. Using magnets and a metal mesh watch band, each of the units can be snapped on or off in any order.

We used the same worm-on-worm design, but this time utilized an off the shelf gear box to save on soft and hard costs. We then attached it to the right size cogs and to our laser cut nautiluses.
When drawing on the right side, the keyboard can be pushed under the monitor shelf, so the desk can z-fold up and allow access to your tool storage.

Stand alone logo designed for a local start-up brewery. Client requested a Northwest-inspired design that was industrial but not overly modern.
In the wine industry, up and coming winemakers are known as "Rockstars". Frank Michiels, Tim Bates and Andy Shepherd of Eight Bells Winery have been described as such, but when it came to promoting their next event they decided to be more inclusive with the term. By inviting their customers to attend a guided wine blending, the winemakers are challenging them to showcase their own "Rockstar" skills.
Attendance to the "Rockstar" wine event was limited and tickets were sold in advance, so to continue the theme and give the attendees a physical token, I designed a throwback concert ticket for Eight Bells Winery.
